# Geekvape Soul 2, which cartridge for which draw

> Geekvape Soul 2 cartridges in 1.0, 0.6 and 0.4 ohm, sorted by draw style on Geekvape's own labels, with compatibility and the power setting to match.

The **Geekvape Soul 2** comes with two cartridges and takes a third resistance, sold separately. The 35 W the maker highlights is only available with one of them, and each opens its own power window and draw style. Not all of them fit the first Soul either. Pick the wrong cartridge and you get a tight draw when you wanted air, or the other way round.

## Which Geekvape Soul 2 cartridge for which draw

Geekvape sorts its cartridges by draw style on its official store. The 1.0 ohm is labelled MTL, a tight mouth-to-lung draw where the vapour is held in the mouth first. One step up, the 0.6 ohm gives a looser MTL, which the brand calls loose MTL. As for the 0.4 ohm, it targets RDL, a restricted direct-to-lung draw, airier but not wide open.

| Cartridge | Resistance | Suggested power | Draw according to Geekvape | On the first Soul |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soul 2.0 Pod (Boost Version) | 1.0 ohm | 5 to 15 W | MTL | yes |
| Soul 2.0 Pod (Boost Version) | 0.6 ohm | 15 to 30 W | loose MTL | yes |
| Soul 2.0 Pod (Boost Version) | 0.4 ohm | 30 to 35 W | RDL | no, Soul 2 only |
| Soul 1.0 Pod | 1.0 ohm | 5 to 15 W | not stated | yes |
| Soul 1.0 Pod | 0.6 ohm | 15 to 30 W | not stated | yes |

In short, a tight draw calls for the 1.0 ohm, and a tight but less restricted one for the 0.6 ohm. For a more open draw and more power, that leaves the 0.4 ohm, the only one that goes past 30 W.

## Soul 1.0 and Soul 2.0 Boost, two families of cartridges

The Soul name covers two generations of cartridge, and that is the first trap when buying. In both cases the coil is built into the cartridge. For the Soul 2, Geekvape lists 4 ml in the standard version and 2 ml in the TPD version, the only one that meets the UK limit on refillable tanks.

### What comes in the box

The Soul 2 kit ships with a 0.6 ohm Soul Boost cartridge already fitted and a 1.0 ohm spare. The 0.4 ohm is not in the box. To try RDL you have to buy it separately, checking for the words Boost Version on the pack.

### Cross-compatibility

Soul 1.0 cartridges in 0.6 and 1.0 ohm fit both the Soul and the Soul 2. So do Boost cartridges in 0.6 and 1.0 ohm. Only the 0.4 ohm Boost is reserved for the Soul 2. According to Geekvape, it is also the only cartridge that allows more than 30 W.

On size, the spec sheet gives 108.49 × 33.67 × 23.50 mm including the drip tip and 90.5 g, while the manual quotes a height of 95.6 mm without the tip. Our pocket comparator turns that into 85.8 cm³. For reference, the [Vaporesso Vibe SE and its two modes](/uk/vaporesso-vibe-se-modes/) takes 36.8% less room, while the Soul 2 takes 8.2% less than the OXVA VPrime.

## Setting the power on the Geekvape Soul 2

Power adjusts one watt at a time, but only inside the window of the cartridge fitted. The electronics do part of the work each time you change cartridge, and the rest goes through the single button.

### What the device does when a cartridge goes in

As soon as a cartridge is in place, the Soul 2 reads its resistance and shows that value along with the matching power range. It sets itself to a recommended power, and the available range is preset to avoid a setting that would burn the coil.

### Raising the wattage

Three presses within 2 seconds open the power setting. While the number flashes, each press adds 1 W, and holding the button speeds things up. After 5 seconds without a press, the value is saved.

One detail can block the setting. When the button is locked, only draw activation works and no setting can be changed. Two presses within 2 seconds unlock the button before you touch the wattage.

### Where to set it

The simplest approach is to start from the power offered when the cartridge goes in, then adjust one watt at a time within the range shown. On the 1.0 ohm, the top of the range gives warmer vapour without changing the tight nature of the draw. On the 0.4 ohm, the suggested range starts at 30 W, which is where that cartridge was designed to run.

## Matching the airflow to the draw

The airflow wheel sits on top of the cartridge, under the cap you also remove to fill it. It fine-tunes the draw without replacing the choice of coil, which remains the main lever. In our view, a 1.0 ohm keeps a tight draw even with the wheel open, and a 0.4 ohm does not become an MTL cartridge by closing it.

In practice, the wheel is for refining. Close it further on the 1.0 ohm for a more restricted feel, open it on the 0.4 ohm to make use of its 30 to 35 W, and sit in between on the 0.6 ohm, the most versatile of the three.

## Filling and replacing a Soul cartridge without losing the cap

Filling goes through a side port, following the order in the manual:

1. remove the cap from the cartridge;
2. open the plug on the filling port;
3. insert the bottle nozzle and fill very slowly, without overfilling;
4. close the plug firmly;
5. on a new cartridge, peel off the sticker underneath, then put the cap back.

Then give the cotton five minutes to soak before the first puff. The manual asks for that wait so the coil is fully saturated.

When the taste fades after several refills, the whole cartridge needs replacing, since the coil cannot be removed. Keep the cap from the old one, because replacement cartridges are sold without a cap. A cartridge also wears out sooner with very thick e-liquid.

## Screen messages that point to the cartridge

Three messages concern the cartridge directly, and each calls for a simple step.

POD SHORTED means a resistance below 0.3 ohm has been detected, or a short across the contacts. Swap the cartridge, then check and clean the contacts on the device. NO POD means no cartridge is detected, or that the contacts need cleaning.

TIME OUT appears when a single activation lasts more than 10 seconds, or when the button gets pressed by accident in a pocket or bag. Geekvape then suggests locking the button, with two presses within 2 seconds, so that only draw activation remains.

## FAQ

Five practical questions that are not about choosing a cartridge, answered from Geekvape's documentation.

### How many screen themes does the Soul 2 offer?

Five. After switching on, each press moves to the next theme, and staying on one for five seconds selects it.

### How do I reset the puff counter?

Four presses within 2 seconds open the counter setting, and the number flashes. One press clears it, a second press restores the original figure.

### How does the Soul 2 charge?

Through a USB-C port at 5 V and 2 A. Geekvape highlights a fast 40-minute charge for its 2100 mAh battery.

### How can I check that a Soul 2 is genuine?

Scratch off the code under the label on the box and enter the 12 digits in the product verification tool on Geekvape's website, which confirms whether the device is authentic.

### What does the OVERHEAT message mean?

The device has got too hot, usually in summer, in a hot climate or in a car left in the sun. Geekvape then advises moving it somewhere cooler.

## Geekvape Soul 2, cartridge first, watts second

The Soul 2 adjusts finely, but that adjustment stays locked inside the cartridge's window. The right order is to pick the resistance for the draw you want, then refine with the wheel and the button, never the other way round.

For a tight draw, the supplied 1.0 ohm is enough. For air and more than 30 W, the 0.4 ohm Boost is bought separately and only works on the **Geekvape Soul 2**. Our other features apply the same logic to other compact pods.
